Knox Football Club Strategic Plan 2009-2013

A plan for the ongoing prosperity and development of the Knox Football Club

Preamble

The Knox Football Club is made up of a Senior, Reserve, Colts & Vets teams. It shares the ground and its facilities with the Knox Junior football club and Knox Gardens cricket club.

The club elects a committee to run the club and be accountable to its members for:

  • Setting strategic direction for the club and related implementation within the constitutional framework.
  • Acting in the best interests of the club at all times.
  • Good governance and compliance.
  • Overseeing the operations of the club.
  • Ensuring members are kept informed on all relevant matters.

The executive, through the president, delegate responsibility for day-to-day operations to the committee and club volunteers.

Members are encouraged to review the plan and contribute to its further development.

The Plan is:

  • Intended to represent the aspirations, views, and understanding of the majority of the members.
  • Subject to ongoing assessment and updating. Planning is a frequent process.
  • A driver for behaviour and performance for the club. Thus ensuring that the club is portrayed in a positive light in the community.
  • Meant to the extent practical, to be consistent and complimentary with the plans of the other sister clubs.
  • Increase our revenue flow from gate receipts, members and sponsors.
  • That we produce a profit each year.

Projects: Not in priority order.

  • Fencing at front & bottom entrances around oval.
  • Upgrade training oval surface.
  • Upgrade bottom oval lighting to 4 lights per pole.
  • Install new lighting on top oval.
  • Extend roof over terracing to stop rain getting on spectators.
  • Extend terracing along in front of community rooms & add new roof.
  • Bitumen car parks.
  • Upgrade social rooms to include walk in freezer/cool room.
  • Re work ceiling in social rooms and work with sister clubs & plan what hangs where.
  • New change rooms between the two ovals.
  • Targeting the new housing with a Knox pack to attract players to the juniors & us.
  • To build on the already good relations we have between the senior/junior football & cricket clubs via a relationship manager.
  • Installation of new underground water tanks.

Analysis-The current position.

We are in a good financial position, with a strong reliable team and a good core of helpers.

Much has been achieved by the good relationship between the junior & senior football clubs & the cricket club. This needs to be fostered on a continual basis.

Significantly changing social standards are creating new expectations of all our members. We need to take a strong stance on matters such as violence, illicit drugs and alcohol abuse.

Past success will not necessarily guarantee future success. The environment is changing and many of the challenges facing us will be influenced by global economic changes.

We need to protect and promote our brand as the Knox Football club at every opportunity.

Challenges

  • Find an ongoing revenue stream that will ensure the long-term viability of the club.
  • Taping into the local community to get the maximum support both physically and financially.
  • Identifying opportunities of facility development.
  • Recruitment, retention and development of our quality people (i.e. staff, volunteers, coaches and players).
  • Securing our ground as a finals venue to help our revenue stream.

Our values

  • We recognise the efforts of those who contribute to the well being of our club.
  • We treat safety as a priority.
  • We strive to innovate.
  • We support the big picture and understand we are part of a wider football community.
  • We define our position and defend this when appropriate.
